The average study period in the current architectural study program is 4 (four) years, including an internship period of 6 (six) months to 1 (one) year in the architectural bureau. By including internship courses in the curriculum, architecture students are expected to be ready for work immediately after graduation.

After graduating from the architectural study program, the journey to become an architect still continues. To be able to practice as an architect, graduates of the architectural study program are required to register as a member of the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) and take an apprenticeship program issued by the IAI. This apprenticeship program must be completed within a minimum period of 2 (two) years. After graduating from the apprenticeship program, the prospective architect can finally hold the title of Young Architect and have the right to practice architecting; an activity to produce Architectural works which include planning, design, supervision and/or assessment for buildings and their environment.

Seeing the long journey that one needs to take to be able to practice as an Architect, it is appropriate that this profession is protected by regulations that can provide legal certainty for both Architects and Architect service users.
